Recognition of Academic Qualifications
The Architects Accreditation Council of Australia (AACA) is responsible
for setting the standards of recognition of academic qualifications and
approval of overseas qualifications.
For eligibility to sit the Architectural Practice Examination you must
have:
- satisfactory completion of an approved course at a School of
Architecture recognised by AACA - for information on approved Schools of
Architecture contact AACA, see website below, or
- a statement from AACA that your overseas qualifications (from a
school not already recognised by the AACA) have been assessed through
the Review of Academic Equivalence (RAE) as being equivalent to
Australian academic standards. The date of equivalence being the date of
the award of the approved professional qualification - you should
contact AACA, see website below, if you have an overseas degree or
qualification - or
- a pass in the National Program of Assessment (NPrA). This program is
conducted through AACA and if you are interested you should contact
AACA, or
- a pass in the Board's Prescribed Examinations. The Board is no
longer offering its Prescribed Examinations Parts 1 and 2 to new
candidates. If you are unable or unwilling to obtain a qualification
from an approved School of Architecture, you may be eligible to
undertake the NPrA above, and should contact AACA.
