Preparing for the Architectural Practice Exam (APE)

The Architectural Practice Examination (APE) is a national scheme administered by the Architects' boards of each State and Territory on behalf of the Architects Accreditation Council of Australia (AACA).
Generally, three steps outline the requirements for satisfactory completion of the APE:
You must:
  1. have a recognised academic qualification in architecture or a pass in the National Program of Assessment (NPrA), or another pathway as defined by AACA;
  2. have a period of training through experience - practical experience and Logbook  ;
  3. successfully complete the AACA Architectural Practice Examination (APE) which also has three distinct parts
    Part 1 - Assessment of Log Book and Statement of Practical Experience  
    Part 2 - National Written Examination Paper
    Part 3 - Oral Exam

The Australian Institute of Architects PALS Course.  The Australian Institute of Architects PALS (Practice of Architecture Learning Series) course is available as an on-line course with supporting tutorial sessions. For further information please contact the Institute's Queensland Chapter on (07) 3828 4100.  https://pals.architecture.com.au/  There are a number of free modules available on this website that may assist you with the APE process.  The PALS face to face tutorials for the first night is free to “come and try” and see what it’s all about as well.

PARC Online Tutorials can be found at www.practicingarchitecture.com.au.  The PARC Online Tutorials are an online version of the highly successful PARC APE Tutorial program.  They consist of ten weekly online tutorials leading up to the APE Part 2 - National Examination Paper (NEP).  A further tutorial is held following the NEP to prepare candidates for the APE Part 3 - Examination by Interview.
